Letters from the Adversary / God’s reply – Part 5

My Son,

I know lately this battle of yours has been wearisome and your heart is on the brink of quitting the race. Beloved, press toward the mark (Phil 4:13), don’t quit! I am your strength and your shield; You can trust in me and I will help you (Psa 28:7)

I know our enemy has made you feel weak and as a failure but I say to you: You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psa 139:15 ). You are no longer a stranger or a foreigner but you are a part of my family! (Eph 2:19). No One or anything can separate you from my love; not hard times, or stress of language school, not persecution or a small ministry. (Rom 8:35). In all this you can be more than victorious through me that loves you. (Rom 8:37)
Satan has encouraged you to seek the approval of men, so much so that you have to constantly battle your pride. I say, whatsoever you do, do it heartily, for me and not for men. (Col 3:23)

My son, you must fight all the common bullets of Satan.  Satan wants nothing more than for you to be stagnant in your work because accountability is absent. You must love not sleep, lest you come to poverty. (Prov 20:13)

Your family is of utmost importance. He desires nothing more than for you to be a bad husband and father. He wants you to think only of yourself in these relationships.  As a husband, love your wife, just as I loved the church, and gave every part of me for it. (Eph 5:25) What may be adventurous and easy to you may be difficult to her. Understand her, giving honour unto her, as unto the weaker vessel (I Pet 3:7). As a father, you must not provoke them to anger, it will discourage them. (Col 3:21), but train them in the right way. (Prov 22:6)

My Daughter,

I know some days you seem millions of miles away from the fellowship of friends. The heart of loneliness is what the devil seeks for you to have. Remember, I will never leave you or forsake you, (Heb 13:5), Draw near to me and I will draw near to you. (James 4:8) You have a friend that will stick closer than a brother (Prov 18:24).

This battle at times is hard, but know that Satan set his battle on your mind. He knows he can overwhelm you when you began to think on certain things.  My Daughter, do you not know? Have you not heard, that I am an everlasting Lord, I am the Creator of the ends of the earth, I faint not, nor am I weary? I give power to the faint; and to them that have no might I increase their strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon me, I shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isa 40:28-31) . I am your rock and your fortress, and your deliverer (Psa 18:2) when you feel overwhelmed.

Satan wants nothing more than for you to be discontent with what I have given you. He wants you to long for bigger and better things. Daughter, love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If you love the world, My love is not in you. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh ( desiring the things missed from your home country), the lust of the eyes, (what others have on Facebook,) and the pride of life (wanting to be better and more powerful than your teammate), is not from me, but is of the world. (1 Jn 2:15-16).

As a wife, I watch you work and it makes me so happy, for I created you for that purpose. I created you to be his help meet. (Gen 2:18). Satan wants you to feel that this is insignificant and second class. My daughter, you have fulfilled my greatest purpose for you when you are a wise woman and build your house, instead of tearing it down. (Prov 14:1)

My Children,
Keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching. (Prov 6:20). Do what was is right in the eyes of the LORD;  walk in the ways of your parents, and do no turn aside to the right hand or to the left. (2 Cron 32:1) Put on my armor so you can fight against Satan (Eph 6:11). You are from me, my children, and I have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. (I Jn 4:4)

My church,
The world and Satan have offered so many things to offend you, to keep your from offering your support to those that assist me. Satan wants you to think of all the difficulties and stress in your life . I ask you to  instead think on those things that are true, those things that are honest; the things that are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and I shall be with you. (Phil 4:8-9) I ask that you remember your position in this battle is important; for as you have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office (Rom 12:4).

Finally brethren,                                                                                                                                                                                           Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed: for I am with you where ever you go (Josh. 1:9) even into the most difficult battle. I will be your light and your salvation; so you have no one to fear. I will be the strength in your life, so you need not be afraid. When the wicked– your enemies and foes come for you, they will stumble and fall. Even if an entire host of them should encamp against you, remember, you have nothing to fear. When war rises against you, be confident (Psa 27:1-3) because I WILL WIN. These shall make war with me, but I shall overcome them: for I am the Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with me are called, and chosen, and faithful. (Rev. 17:14)

Love forever,
Your Father

A Personal Note :
As I wrote this over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed first hand the work of Satan in my own life, especially with my thoughts.   I have seen things in my friends’ lives as well, that I now realize is Satan at work.  The study and preparation that I have put into writing this has changed the way I wake up everyday.  It makes me more determined to not give the Devil victory over my thoughts.   Saying that, I do want to mention that I realize that God as well, molds us, sometimes through trials.   I also want to note that I do know that missionaries are not the only ones under Satan’s attack.  This study has given me determination to pray for all those that are on the Lord’s team.
Thank you so much for reading,

    1. This was the PERFECT conclusion for this series! And I love how you back everything up with Scripture, so that these aren’t just your words or ideas, but straight from God! How awesome!

    2. Thank you for reading
, I had so many verses I could have put in this post that it was hard to narrow it down into those that would fit in one post.

    3. In the past few weeks, I have read this series, there are many things that have been reviewed in my mind about each article, multiple times. This series is an encouragement to many and it cannot easily be forgotten. God is a good God and I am glad to read your closing statements on how God personally helped you through writing this, but is also using it in your life, now. I know He will use it in many of the lives that read it, also.

        1. I am thrilled to meet you! I have heard a lot about your ministry from Beth. She has made an impact, it seems in part, bc of things she learned with you while on her internship. Waiting to hear about so many things from you.

    4. WOW! This series has opened my eyes to so many ways that Satan works, and we don’t even realize it. We leave the door open. Thank you for presenting the battle in a tangible way that I can’t forget after reading these articles. This last article was great too. I know it took lots of hard work to pull it all together with verses as a response to the points brought out in previous articles. You are such a wonderful writer, and I have learned from your wisdom.

      1. Thanks for noticing 🙂 There were sooo many verses I could have used, that was the hardest part, but also the greatest, that God gives us so much wisdom we can learn from His Word.
