God has used so many things in my life to bring me to where I am today- a missionary wife to Japan. I surrendered my life to God as a 17 year old about to start my senior year of high-school. I didn’t know what God had for me yet but I desired to serve Him with my life. My brother had recently started deputation to go to China and he was always motivating me in the area of missions.
I remember talking to him one day about a speech I had to give at school. I didn’t know what to talk about and he suggested Luke 10:2. I looked it up and prepared my speech. Now, I’m not a great speaker and I barely made a passing grade on that speech but it is a speech that greatly impacted my life.
Luke 10:2 “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore The Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”
I was in awe at this verse. Here is Jesus, the savior of the world, who could do anything. Yet he asks his disciples to pray and ask God for something. This must have been important to Him.
He asks them to pray for more laborers in this harvest. Wow!
I had prayed for missionaries but it had never occurred to me to pray for the world- those lost and on their way to hell- that they would hear and that God would send someone to them. I began to pray for the world, for each country and that God would send laborers, missionaries, to those countries.
Do you pray for the world? There is a great need in every country, on every continent. I encourage you to spend some time today praying for the world.
P.S. This is a website that sets up a country to pray for every day!!
